2 out of 5 stars Really just not very good   September 6, 2010
K. Nelson (Pittsburgh PA)
I've owned this camera for a couple months now, and i'm quite disappointed with it. I've fiddled around with it a LOT trying to adjust settings and turn out better pictures, but it's just very difficult. It has struggles with focusing often - like it will focus on the background when taking a shot of a person, even in portrait mode, or have a hard time focusing at all or finding a face even when a face is the ONLY thing in the shot. My kids don't have the patience to wait 2 minutes for the camera to focus on them! I particularly don't like that the only options for flash in a couple modes (like child mode and smile capture mode) are no flash or red eye reduction. Red eye reduction is a fine idea but it makes the shot too slow and I can never catch my kids smiles!
There are some pros - the touch screen which works great and allows for a lot of options. The camera itself looks sleek and is small.
If all you want to take pictures of are groups of people or semi-distant subjects in good lighting this camera is great. However if you want any close shots or pictures of children, find another camera. Basically it comes down to - I wish I would have paid a little more for a camera that was a little better so I could get some good shots of my kids.

3 out of 5 stars Just OK   August 31, 2010
Just My Opinion
I have had this camera for a few months now and I have to say it's only okay.

Granted, it does take decent enough pictures and the touch screen is great, but other negative factors outweigh the good.

The battery life isn't great at all. You can take a lot of pictures on a full charge, but if the camera sits for a bit it has absolutely no juice when you go back to it, and it powers off after a few minutes of not being used so it's not like it should drain all the power.

Charging the battery is a pain. You have to take the battery out, which isn't a big deal, but the charger is a nightmare. You really have to fuss with it to position it just right to get a charge.

Also, you'd think that it would charge from your computer while it's hooked up via the USB cable, but it doesn't.

There is NO INSTRUCTION MANUAL with this camera either. If you want to know how to use all the features that come with this model you have to go to the HP website and dig through 64 pages of online info to get anywhere.

I do like the voice note recording option though.

I only paid $89 for this 12mp camera on a lightning deal, so I guess I can't expect too much.

An unbelievably-good camera for the price! The camera has many great features that are easy to find and navigate with the touch screen. I would not suggest using it as a video camera, as the video comes out choppy. I would also make sure you have a very large memory card if you plan to use the highest resolution, otherwise it fills up very quickly.

4 out of 5 stars HP PB360 12 MP Digital Camera Review   August 30, 2010
C. P. Goslett (Flushing, NY)
The HP camera is excellent in providing photos. I feel the camera,as supplied, has a couple of drawbacks; firstly, the battery must be removed in order to charge it. I feel this is a bother, and I think a plug on the camera to charge the battery while it is in the camera would be preferable; then the USB cable is far too short and it has a proprietary end to fit in the camera so you cannot just use another cable; then the viewing screen is no match for a bright sun. You have to guess if the image you shoot is the one you want. I was outdoors shooting exhibitions and competitions and, because I was in the bright sun, I had to guess if what I was pointing the camera at was what I wanted to see; in about a quarter of the images I preserved, I was disappointed. I guess the only was to avoid that kind of problem is to get an SLR camera, or at least one with an optional viewfinder. Other than that, the directions on the touch-screen are really pretty intuitive, and the operation of the device is simple and it does take superlative photos.

4 out of 5 stars Great Little Camera   August 28, 2010

Work great for my husband to take a business trip. He was able to do some sight seeing one day on a recent trip out of the country. And this worked great. The pictures he took were great. Did just what we wanted it to do.
